Tom Brown (he/him)

I lead a research group that explores the most cost-effective pathways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the energy system at the Technical University of Berlin, where I have been professor for Digital Transformation in Energy Systems since April 2021. We use detailed computer models to optimise the interactions of variable renewable energy and supporting infrastructure, with the goal to find low-cost and otherwise attractive solutions for the energy transition. We maintain the free software Python for Power System Analysis (PyPSA) and associated libraries, as well as the European model PyPSA-Eur.

I'm a participant in the Open Energy Modelling Initiative, which aims to promote open and transparent energy modelling.
